What should I expect during a clinic visit for shoulder pain ?

Dr Boes is an experienced orthopedic surgeon with extensive training in the shoulder. He will perform a comprehensive physical exam during your evaluation. The goal of the exam will be to identify the problem to come up with an effective treatment plan that fits your goals and expectations.

During the clinic visit, in addition to reviewing your medical history and performing the physical exam, X-rays and MRI are often needed to help confirm or rule out causes of shoulder pain.

How is shoulder pain treated?

Dr Boes will create a personalized treatment plan for your shoulder pain based on the cause, degree of symptoms, and your expectations/goals.

Many times shoulder pain will respond to:

- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

- Physical therapy

- Steroid injections

- Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections

In some cases, surgery will be necessary to address the shoulder pain. Dr Boes can perform arthroscopic shoulder surgery to repair rotator cuff or labral tears. He also performs shoulder replacement surgery including reverse total shoulder replacement.
